Distances: 5k run, 23mi. bike, 10k run OR 5k run, 20k bike, 5k run
Date/location:Sunday - 10-10, 10:00am, Belle Isle, Detroit Michigan. Proceed around the island to the gazeebo/concession area just down from the beach. This is on the Detroitside of the island.Click here for map Click here for park information
Venue/Area Information:Detroits Belle Isle, those familiar with the Motor City triathlon know all this island has to offer. The last multi-sport race of the year in Michigan deserves a traffic free course, a fast course with lots to do after the event. This is the perfect location for that and a closed course make it the perfect way to end your multi-sport season.
Course: Proceed around the island to the pavillion just south of the beach. You can't miss it as the island is a one way around it. Flat, fast, flat, fast, that is the island, there are no hills, it is a beautiful island between Detroit and Canada. You will have two dedicated closed lanes around the entire island. It is a 5.8m. loop, spooky sprint athletes 2 loops, Great Pumpkin athletes 4 loops. It is your responsibility to count your laps. The run course is excellent with a fast open road down the middle of the island, and back around.
Race Tips: You can view the race tips for the Motor City Triathlon and use those for the bike and run course. What can I say, it is a duathlon, if you want to go fast in a duathlon you will be hurting the entire time. I have said this over 1000 times, duathlons hurt if you want to go fast. There is no time to relax, there is no swim to rest the legs, when you start you try to run a pr in the run, every pedal stroke you want to set a pr with and then on the last run the lactic acid is there before you get to the end of the run chute so you know the run will hurt the entire time. But that is why we love racing and love duathlons....... I think? :-) cmon, get out here and see how fast you can go.

Bike: 23mi. 20k- A great closedflat, fastbike course! 2 laps and 4 laps around the island. It is your responsibility to count your laps, failure to count laps is a automatic disqualification so make sure you are keeping track of your laps.*Remember this is an open course! You will be sharing the road with vehicular traffic. Use caution at all times. It will be your responsibility to print maps, and know the courses. It is the athlete's responsibility to know and understand the courses. Helmets are a must. No helmet - no race. MP3 players on the bike course are an automatic disqualification. Due to a few athletes actions in the past during an event we are making you aware not only in this event but ALL events whether hosted by us or any other event management company YOU MUST OBEY ALL OFFICIALS and EMERGENCY VEHICLES on the course AT ALL TIMES!! The bottom line here is your race is not more important than an EMERGENCY or OFFICIAL on the course. In the event of an emergency you MUST obey officials requests, and you MUST STOP and pull off the road for any and all EMERGENCY VEHICLES to get by. This is not only to ensure the emergency vehicles can proceed, it is for your safety as well. Any athlete that does not adhere to this rule will be disqualified and will not race in a 3 d event for the rest of the year. This to us is common sense and should not have ever came to this point.
you may print awards form and mail in a check for $10 within 2 weeks after the event to get your award mailed to you. If your envelope is postmarked after 2 weeks or does not contain a check for $10 we will not send the award.

Event management is NOT responsible for late arrivals, athletes not finding a venue, etc. Late arrivals will NOT be issued a chip and strap and you will not be allowed in the transition area once it is closed. Again, there will be no refunds for any reason. If an event has mandatory bike check in you must check in your bike during the alotted check in times. Failure to do so will mean you are not going to race and again no refunds will be given. Failure to comply will result in a change of event or disqualification if there is an un-willingness on an athletes part. Safety will NOT be compromised under any circumstances. A lost chip will be billed directly to the athlete for a $40 fee and may result in no times for event.
